Authentic China for Mom

Here are some pics of China that should not really look like Canada. However you should all also realize that much of China is very like the western world. There are some differences in ideals and language, but these don't really show very well in photos. A lot looks similar. Also the majority of my social life is dominated by time with Canadians. It's fun to meet people of other cultures, but I do eat, live, work and play with Canadians, so a large part of my experience here is with them. The day of a typical Chinese person is dominated by work. I will however try to get out and get some pics of what I see on a regular basis. I'm used to taking pictures with friends, family and fun as the center, but I suppose some pics of just scenery would be nice too.

Just a shot of Dre and I near his place.

This is a pic from Dre's Neighborhood. We were just taking a walk.

The above pics are from my breif visit to the wood museum in Dre's Neighbourhood

I was invited (and accepted) a couple of weeks ago, to play a duet with Chinese singer/student Amos in a charity concert he was putting on to raise money for earth quake victims. It was pretty fun. The whole concert was apparently taped and broadcast on Chinese Television... But I never watch tele here so I haven't seen it.

I love you all a bunch and will try to blog again soon.

Oh yea, Heidi... Start answering your phone please!!! Love you.

Family News

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CORINNA xoxooxx From the Fam!

Corinna birthday was rememberance day. We spoke to her and she was happy that the snow was falling when she awoke. She made herself a cup of coffee and sat looking out her window, glad that it was snow and not cold rain. Joe is far away and she awaits his return home. I think then she will feel like celerbarting. Her and Joe often celebrate thier B-Days together as they are only two weeks apart. Kris and Heidi do the same, as thier's are also only two weeks apart. Dad/papa and I have a wonderful gift for Joe and Queen, we are excited for them to get it. Just as soon as Joe is home, they can pick it up at Roxi. NICE :)

Caleb's school picture is up and coming. we are very excited to see it. He is such an incredibly handsome child. he is in grade two this year, and is doing very well. He tells me he is stil missing his old school. We had a nice chat on his mommy's birthday. he told me I could buy him an extra xmas gift...(if I wanted too, that is ) and I told him...."Of course I want to ". He says to buy him a few poki-mon (spelling?) people/animal/creatures things. It looks like I not done xmas shopping yet! Skee called me this week to explain to me that he NEEDED the sled that I bought him for xmas right away, because it had snowed and he had NOTHING to slide with...(poor boy!) ..so Nana had the sled delivered to him that day, and then I bought him a make-up present at Canadian Tire, it is something that he will LOVE...especially he and his good friend Ethan.

Aunika has had an amazing week. She has learned how to ride a truck...(a toy one) and she had learned how to take something out of a bucket and put it back in...sort-of...she not real good at releasing, her hand just wants to continue to grip. She can climb on the dishwasher door, when it is left down, and she can slip out of the tub. just like a baby seal...wellll, she did bump her noggon a bit too hard on her way down! Aunika can follow her mommy's voice and find her too...WOW NONNI you great.

Hadassah LOVES the snow.....she calls it nooos....putting the "S" on the end instead of the beginning. She love to go....anywhere. She loves getting her shoes or boots on. She likes to play "Where R U? Yesterday while driving with her mommy, she said; "Blue, Where R U?" Her mommy told her. "I have on a blue coat, so here I am" Dassi smiled all big like, with her eyes shinning and replied.."Ohhh Dare U R" Doesn't she sound adorable?

I wrote a book for Dassi about her looking to find her big brother. In the Book the question is often ask..."Where are you"? The book is done with pictures of Hadassah and Scott-Isaac and other family members. I had Kodak print it up for me. Hadassah took a real shine to it. I am working on a second in the series, This one will be about her beloved dog Buddi.

Speaking about beloved, my darling sister DeeDee informed me today that they are spending Xmas in Fredericton. She will be there for two weeks from the 19th until the 2 of Jan. I really am hoping to get some of that visit. maybe she and I can get in some fun Photo time.

Daniel is wanting some packages from Canada so I asked him what he would like us to send. I hope to do so soon. I have to look into how that works for China. Anyone know...or has anyone sent things far far away?

Isaac is on his week off, and Mark F went back to work for his two week on. Kris is also off this week. And Joe should be off by the end of the week.

I will post a picture of Becky engagement ring, so we can all OH and aw together. Isaac send me an amazing picture of a spiders web that was covered in frost. I will post that too. It is something to behold!

Heidi is NOT expecting a baby yet.....every month she has some sign that indicates that she is. I told her today that she should save all the pregnancy test that she does, and when the next baby does arrives, she can show him/her how wanted they were even if they are number two "2". I love that girl...she is the best. I wonder if Aunika would like buddy? Could they get another one as sweet and darling as her....if so then I say...Go for it!!!

Dad/Papa is working away at the office. He talking dog again. I think that Daniel should get him a job in China, and give his mind something else to do until he has fully retired. I keep hoping that we wait for the dog....until we are fully free.

I am very lonesome to come out west and am finding it very hard to wait. But most tickets are gone now, so I must wait until January..... I was hoping that Dad and I would pick out our gift together. I found a wonderful buy at the superstore on a digital thin screen TV. It was only a 19 inch, but for the all we need it for, it would be perfect. It can hang right on the wall...neat uh? I hope we get it.

Dad and I had a remembrance day supper at the Loggieville Church Supper. It was Okay, and it was something different to do. I made two pumpkin pies tonight, they turned out fabulous.

It is 2:30 am, and for some strange reason I am not yet sleepy....but maybe I need to slow down the mind, so I think I will scoot off to bed and see if the quite still night will lore me to sleep.

I wonder how Auntie BeBe is doing with Logan. I have had her on my mind lately. I will give her a call. She thinks of you all often you know. And she replies to many of your post by e mail to me. She has a watchful eye on all her babies. Heidi thinks that BeBe should be a grandmother to this new upcoming lot of babies. Sounds about right, I think! You know BeBe, you could go visit them. Heidi and Kris would welcome you, and you would fit right in there. They could supply you with a tape service and everything. Heidi has a lovely new car, you could travel out to visit Roxi, and Isaac and Joe...Oh my, you just might need to do that! You would fall in love with the grand babies too. Just ask Auntie Lavina, she is IN LOVE, with them girlies.

Off to bed I go!!!!!

Lovingly, As Ever, Mother/Nana/Sister/Aunt....ect....ect...ect...

Daniel My Love.

Hello Son.

Looks like you are having a good time indeed. I imagine that you got a chuckle out of my saying that all we got after two weeks was you in red underwear. Hey you never did tell us what the "S" was for. Oh well that one we can all chalk up to Halloween.

So tell us, in the picture of you with 'Vicky'...is that a friendship or a courtship? She looks mighty glad being held by you??

Well the bowling picture......ummm....Dad and I keep on hoping that you will share some of what you are seeing in China of Chinese culture. Gotta tell ya son, some of these pictures could be taken right here on the Miramichi. Bareback guys drinking and making themselves looking foolish. Not what I hope to see on a family blog. Not what I care for your Nephews to envision as they think of Uncle Daniel in China. Know what I mean??!!

The problem with being a bit critical, is that I would not want you to stop blogging. I LOVE and NEED to hear from you....and Dad and I are soo, so, so, longing to hear about the Chinese people and about the scenes you see. I was hoping for pictures of the City where Andre lives. I would love to see more pictures of your beach, sea, town, shopping places, where you bought your clothes. It was nice to have some of this on the Video, but you need to post the pictures so we can save them and have them. Think of the nephews doing a school project on China, and the kind of pictures that would be meaningful in that regards. Get your camera and start snapping pictures. What does the outside of the bowling ally building look like. What is the inside of your classroom look like. Heck Dan we can see Canadians whenever we want to. We do not need tons of pictures of your Canadian colleagues. Send us pictures of your Chinese students.

When you do not have time to blog and write us.....send us pictures with caption that tell us when and when. OK, let see the China that you are seeing.

I will do with you what I did for the Girls (sisters,Roxi, Corinna & Heidi), I will give a cash$$$ reward for any pictures that are posted in the next three days that show the culture and landscape of China! 1 - 2 - 3 GO!!!!!!!

Lovingly ....As Ever Mother/Nana

I would love to talk to you Wednesday morning my time, Wednesday night your time. I will wait by the phone until noon.

On my way to bed

Me and V at Bubbles Bar in Kai Fa Qu

Me and a couple of my team mates at the bowling ally (Yep I'm in a bowling league)

I was just reading through blogs before going to bed. I want to write simply that I feel for you Joe. I love you and miss you.

If anyone wants a phone call feel free to set a time and date you would like your call on. I will do my best to oblige. It seems it is too expensive for you guys to call me :( and I haven't been able to get a hold of some of you (Heidi and Kris) though I have tried to call everyone at least once.

I have to get up in six hours, so I won't write much more. I head up a guitar club on Mondays, which makes the day long... but a fun last class to teach (mostly just jamming anyway)

I watched Disney's Robin Hood Yesterday. Made me think of/miss Roxi.

I'll post a mailing address soon for anyone who feel's like sending something my way. I would love to read that book Roxi. Also anything Canadianish would be nice (not flags, or souvenirs... Still got lots of those).

TO OUR DARLING JOSEPH

It was with a sad heart that Joe called us today. He found out that his dear and beloved friend Ed Nowlan of the Miramichi had passed away. Ed was a school teacher and a guidance counsellor for years here on the Miramichi. Even though Ed never taught any of our children, he did befriend our Joseph. It was one of those rare kind of friendships. Rare because Ed was older then Joe's own dad. But it was also rare, because it was not a father and son relationship, but a friendship of a boy and a man, then over the years became a man to man friendship. Whenever Joesph over the years came home to visit, no visit was ever complete for Joe until he and Ed had their time together, often in town over a coffee. As Joe has grew into a man, and into fatherhood, it made him appreciate his kinship to Ed more then ever. As Joe grew-up and seperated from his old high-school buddies, his friendship with Ed always remained unchanged.

Ed had several operation in the past few years, and lost both of his legs. A time which was hard and depressive for Ed. We can only imagine the true adjustment we would experience our self in such a trial. I know that Joe often called Ed, and even came on the train once to visit him during this hard time.

When Joe was planning his wedding he expressed many times that he wished Ed could make it and Stand-up with him. He knew that Ed was not well enough to make such a long journey.

Joe we have seen what a true friendship that you had with Ed, and your family is so sorry for your lost today.

Mom and Dad have been asked by Joe to deliver some flowers to the grave site. I am only to happy to be an ambassador for Joseph. Joe requested a bouquet of white and yellow carnations.
This will done.

Thinking of friends and the meaning of friendship, I felt to share this:

What is a friend? (In loving memory to Ed)

Perhaps the one relation that has survived the trials and tribulations of time and has still remained unconditional is friendship. A unique blend of affection, loyalty, love, respect, trust and loads of fun is perhaps what describes the true meaning of friendship between two individuals. Similar interests, mutual respect and strong attachment with each other are what friends share between each other. These are just the traits of a friendship. To experience what is friendship, one must have true friends, who are indeed rare treasure.

On that note my son, May you find comfort in knowing that you not only received, but gave friendship to Ed.

God Bless Thee Joseph.

Your Ever-loving, and ever-caring Family.

PS. I write this after speaking to all your sibling, except Daniel who I am sure will write to you himself. (of course we know that Corinna is always there for you).

A Poem (This will be on Ed's Bouquet)

When I cried, you were there to help me out
When I was happy, you were there to hear me shout
When I grinned you knew that I was really mad
You could always tell when I was sad
You are the best friend I have ever had!

You were there with me through thick and thin
You offered a helping hand when things were dim
You patiently listened when I wanted to talk
You'd tell me it was Ok ,even when I was bad.
You are the best friend I have ever had!

So hear me out when I say
You were special in my day
You brought me comfort in my night
That always made me feel alright
With you I was always glad
You are the best friend I have ever had!

Hello to all

This is a pic from the lobby of the Hotel I stayed in when I visited Pan Jin

Yes mom, unfortunately, me in red underware is what you get. helloween was a sweet night. I've been very busy up to now. Last week I had to mark 150 exams and write 150 report cards. This upcoming week should however be a little easier. I've spent lots of time getting to know Where I live and the surrounding area I now know Kai Fa Qu (pronounced Ki Fah Chu). I went shopping for winter cloths earlier today with Vicky, as I left my home country far to quickly. I bought a couple of fleecys, some long johns, a new winter vest, socks gloves and hat. I had already picked up a new coat last week. The heat is supposed to be turned on here this week. Heat in China is regulated by the government to control energy use.

I am planning an amazing trip for my 5 week Winter Holiday. I'll be hitting Borneo, Kuala Lampour, Singapour, Cambodia, and Thailand. I don't know a lot about most of our destinations, but the friends I'll be travelling with are all rather seasoned travellers. I plan to become a certified diver while in Borneo. Than when I reach Phucket (Thailand), I'll be able to explore the coral reefs. I'll be travelling with three other people, Shannon, Damon and Vicky. They know each other from Korea where the three of them used to live and work. They've all travelled to piles of countries, and so should make my first foray into international travel a little easier to figure out.

I'll try not to take so long between posts. I know if one of you were over here, I would love to know what was going on with you.

Reading through some posts today, totally made me miss you all. The pic of Hadassah walking in the snow made me miss GP so much (not an easy task being that it's such a hole). Sereously though, I would love to visit for a week. Or better still, It would be great if some one would come and visit me. I know you guys would love it here.

Dad, I haven't been able to access my hotmail for a while, but will get back to you ASAP. I love you guys.

TTY soon

Love you all a ton

Daniel

Halloween

Wow, It's been so long since I blogged. Though it's mostly my fault, there have been a few times I've tried to blog, but the site is down (it happens in China). Yes even in China we Canadians celebrate All Hallow's eve. The big group pic is taken in the Qing Guay (pronounced Ching Way)which is the city train system. The other is taken at my apartment. I hosted the pre-pre-party. The Pre-party was in Ki Fa Chu (about 20 min by Qing Guay)at a friends place, and the party was at the Silk Road Bar. We had such a great night. It`s kind of fun being able to just rent an entire bar for a party. I am just starting a new term and so can definitely spare some time to write you all and read the blog. There are so many new posts!!! I haven`t been able to access the blog or my hotmail for almost 2 weeks. Crazy. Well It`s 11:00 and I have to go grab some Breakfast. But I`ll post more pics and writings today and tomorrow.

Looking at the pics you guys post makes me miss you guys so much!!! I have lots to tell you all.

I`ll write really soon (promise)

Love
Dan

My far far away BRO!!!

Dear Dan
I will call you soon....I was wondering though about the X-mas gift exchange though. Should we exclude you due to border/shipping probs with China, and just (like Mom & Dad) give you a gift this summer when you come home?????

I bought you a gift already, (I used it 1st) .....There is a sequil to "the sparrow", it is titled "Gods Children"....FABULOUS....can I mail it? Or should I keep it here for you?
I miss you so much. (intellectual stimulation is so hard to come by)...
Anyhow...X's, O's and all sorts of love.
Your big Sis....Roxi

The cubs give THANKS

Dear fam,
Thank you to all who supported this years scout popcorn campaign. Our groupe (11 cubs & 12 beavers) had the best year yet in sexsmith history. Our guys sold over $13, 000.00!!!!! Which we keep 60% of for our own troop. THATS $7800.00 for our small town troop!!!!!!
Looks like Camp Tamarack (our big year end cabin camp out) will be the best ever. Which I must say our little beavers & cubs deserve

So CONGRATULATIONS Skoookem!!!! You made Sexsmith History
From Mom / Akela

Greetings from the Pomeroy

Hello all. Kris here. Or you may know me as one of my aliases; daddy, hubby, son, uncle kris, brother kris, bro, and last but not least, frack-superstar. I sit here in the; pomeroy hotel in Fort St. John B.C. waiting to get up in the morning and go off to a job. I'm up at 5:30 (sleeping in for me!) and off we go. Snow is on the ground and as expected trucks started hitting ditches. we have alot of new guys who have very little driving experience. This should be an interesting winter. The picture I posted happened before the snow however. That guy was going too fast on a left hand turn through an intersection. Ooops. Work is good however. I'm learning fast (always learning in a job like this) and soon will be in a very good position for promotion. In the next couple of months I will be the senior pump operator on my crew, as soon as the current one moves up. I'm next in line to move up after him. Its exciting

I have been really enjoying my time at home and cherishing my time with Aunika. She is growing up so fast. Soon she will be walking and following me around. Heidi and I attend her mommy groups with Aunika when I am home (and chores permit), where we sing songs and talk about baby things. I find them quite fun. Aunika (and Mommy) are always excited when I come home and greet me at the door with smiles, hugs, and sometimes fresh baked cookies :) MMmmmm. Delicious.
Roxi, I thought Dassi's halloween pics were sweet, and I liked seeing her taking her first steps in the snow. Its so interesting to think about what she must be thinking about. I cant wait to play in the snow with Nonni and Mommy. Ma, I loved the movie of Nonni, her smile makes me want her here to play with me.
Take care everybody. Thanks for blogging, if not for this blog I wouldnt get many updates!
Love from Kris

To Daniel

Hi Dan Just want to say Hi and send you a GREAT BIG RAINBOW HUG from your favorite fake Auntie Lavina. Hear that you are busy, busy, taking in all the culture and scenery you can. Lots of Love
Roxi The pitcures of Dassah are beautiful. She looks like she is growing. You have snow. It was 16 degrees here today.

Canada to China....Hello

Family Update.

Halloween has come and gone. All our little and big goblins has retired the costumes and are thinking about what they will be next year. Well....believe it or not Skee has already decided that he going to be Bond......James Bond that is! Dassi and Nonni have enough costumes between them to be able to re-use. According to Corinna, Caleb costume cost such a ridicule's amount that he will be Darth Vader until University! WELL SIR!

I plan to call Corinna tonight as I have heard that she is suffering from a bad chest cold. She must get better because she is soon to have a birthday. November the 11th...she is 20 something...for the last year....ooopps I mean she is 20 something period! I have a great gift for her and Joseph for their birthdays, and Mom/Nana and Daddy/Papa will have it delivered to them. I must find out when Joe's next days off are. I sure do love them there fellers.

I haven't heard from Isaac and Becky, but we sure know that they have been enjoying the new engagement. Becky is soon to visit you girls with her candle catalogs, and she has a great surprise for all "Mothers" girls...my older girls that is. If you do not hear from her give her a call on the phone and tell her Mother asked ya to call....she will know why?

Aunika has two new teeth now for a total of six. Kris is Fracking for the next two weeks, and Heidi is busy with her job, and her baby girl. Grande Prairie had snow today....as you see from Dasi's pictures. The girls, Heidi and Roxi do not have snow tires on yet. Roxi will not venture out at all, and Heidi did this morning only to find she did not have good control of the car, and now says she will not drive again until the tires are on. Hey- me- son in laws...get it DONE...so sayith the Mom!

I heard that Corinna is going to take her drivers ED.... Great news, then when she gets her wheels she can drive home here and see her favorite mother-in-law. hehehehe !!

Daniel....Daniel my son, you must POST.....give us a wee post if necessary...we miss you, and we are all hungry to hear from you. I know that you are crazy busy but you MUST make us a part of the crazy busy. You know even if you drop a line saying that you have read the post, and you are busy and you love us...yes even that will give us ALL something. See how much you are loved. And look DANIEL...ROXANN is posting, and CORINNA is posting, all we need is Isaac or Becky....AND YOU my son. We really need you. Remember we post especially for you. Did you get much news on the USA election?

Family all the pictures are so special and so nice, I especially thank all the mommies....Corinna, Roxann, and Heidi for finding the posting time.

Soon it will be remembrance day, then full steam into Christmas....WOW!!

God Bless you all,

Lovingly Mother S/Nana

To Darth Vader. YOU WON A PRIZE!!

Hey Mommy of that Darth Vader, you will have to check you personal e mail where you will find a prize for posting the first grandson picture on the blog! And man oh man, what great pictures they were too! Papa copied them all and added them to his computer at work.

However Auntie Corinna, you are too late for the pool party. It was for the 2 years and under, girls only. It consisted of a small blow-up pool in Auntie Roxi's kitchen, filled with a bucket or two of warm water. It was not a pre-planned event, kind of one of those, "well your here so let have a party". I think that for the mommies it was a lot of work...hehehehe! On the bright side, you and I can have a pool party for the 29 years and above when I come out in January...ohhh that would be something to show them!?!

I hope you liked my ONCE UPON A HALLOWEEN....... I love you and that boy of yours, of course.

Hey did you folks get some school pictures too.
