Backdated from Bali (actually Nusa Lumbongan)... "Dream Beach"
Me looking out over "Dream Beach"
I planning to do a lot more chillin' here in Thailand. The last month has been so busy (fun busy of course!!!) there were very few days where I wasn't up before 7a.m. Joe would be so disappointed in me :(
Anywho, Bali was a dream. The place where we had the bungalow had only one small family on the grounds the whole time we were there.
I don't actually have a shot of our Bungalow with my camera :( .... I'm pretty sure there are some on Vicky's, but she did not bring a connection cable with her, so you'll all have to wait for me to get back home to China before you get to see pics of it.
Hey Kris, I found A shirt I wanted to buy for you today but it was not big enough :( It was a really old school FORD shirt (you are a ford guy right?)
I hope all goes well with your cast change this week Mom. I love you very much.
I'll post some more of my Bali adventures tomorrow
The view from 10 paces in front of the bungalow.

Vicky headed down to the beach for a swim.

Baby Sea Turtles were kept here (in the resturant bar) until they are bigger.

I'm looking out over Dream Beach here. I am maybe 30 paces from my bungalow. This place was so FANTASTIC!!!

Vicky on the left... Dan on the right

The bathroom in my Bongalow. I thought it was so cool that it was open to the sky

The Shower ;)

OK, so while I was in Nusa Lumbongan (Indonesia) I had crap for internet options. The connection is not super here... but it is stable.

DAN
The pics are super awsome. You must be having 'THE TRIP OF A LIFETIME" Look forward to each of your posts. Love and stay safe Auntie L.
Thailand
I landed in Krabi Thailand and took a boat to Ko Phi Phi Don today (one of the most beautiful islands Thailand has... it's on the west coast). Ohhh time out from my story. Hey Joe, there's not very much at this point in time that could make me jelous, but I have to say. That Heli trip sounds bloody awesome!!! I've wated to go on a helicopter for years now. Thought about it when I was in Hong Kong for like 3 seconds until I figued out what it would cost (I think $2000 HK for 15 min). Anywho, it's beautiful here, and I've got another nice bungalow setup... though I think I liked the bungalow in Bali a little more (not sure yet). I've got some great pics from Bali to share, but will post them on another night. for now I'll play catch up and post some pics from Kuala Lumpur.
I've got a decent internet connection where I am staying right now (Viking Nature Resort) so I'll try to post every day or two while I'm here.
Roxi your house looks awsome. Can't wait to see it.
Hey Becky, I got you and Izzy a really sweet preasent to thank you for all the great cooking you've done for me ;)
Heidi, I expect Aunika to be saying "Uncle Dan" by the time I get back to GP this summer
Caleb and Skee, I just wanted to let you guys know that I miss you alot and I think about you guys every day. I cant wait to see you guys and how much you've grown.
A market in KL (Quite a few of you will have gifts from here the next time I see you :)

Vicky and I on the Patronas Twin Towers Sky Bridge

The public fountain out back of the Twin Towers was amazing. The Park around it was beautiful as well. It's a really nice city

A pic from when I was on the twin towers sky bridge. Highest and longest bridge in the world linking skyscrapers ;)

This me and the gang at the rooftop impiana pool. Great View of the Patronas Twin Towers from here huh?

Me in the rooftop infinity pool on the roof of KL's Impiana

O.K this is not KL but is the last pic from Sandakan (Malasian Borneo) on Chinese new year. The show was crazy sweet.

A Great View Of 'The Great White North'
Hello Family,
Well the Heli-Trip was one of the best thrills I've experienced in a long time. First of all, taking of is super wicked cool, you start out by slowly hovering off the ground until the chopper gets about 15 -20 feet off the ground, then you just shoot straight up at an incredible rate, once we got about 150 of the ground the pilot Verde the helicopter sideways at about a 45 degree angle shooting us sideways and looping upward in an arc, increase our altitude to 1200 ft and moved over the forest floor at the same time. Being in a helicopter is much different than flying in an airplane because you have over a 180 degree panoramic view vertical and horizontally at all times, which leaves you feeling like you yourself are flying, plus being so close to the forest floor gives you an up close and personal view of what you're flying over. Helicopters can also take super tight turns that an airplane could never do, which feels and looks amazing, also they can tip forward (face to the ground) and fly forward, which makes the point of view so you can see directly below you. In some ways its like the best roller coaster you've ever been on. Landing was fun too, but probably not as thrilling as landing in an airplane. I'll be going on more rides, but probably not until spring when the Ice roads unfreeze (this ride was just for fun, and it was), so it'll be a while until I get some footage.
I love you all,
Joe

Poor Roxi and Mark are suffering in the Recession

This drum is hand carved in south Africa. It is from plantation grown wood, with an antelope skin top....Its called a Djembe Drumb. It came with a booklet on how to care for and play it properly. Isaac came today and showed me all the cool sounds it could make!!!!!!!
No longer shall my Indian woven textile droop (as it has for 2 years on a cheap cafe rod). It is now supported with a beautiful designer rod, with ornate wooden ends.....
These are luxuries I would never have gotten for my self....Thank you Darling Daddy-O.....XOXOXOXOXOXOXOX!!!!!!!

Under the Sea
Vicky and Dan Diving together :)

I have spent the last two days diving off the coast of Bali. I am staying on the tiny island of Nusa Lembongan. It's beautiful here. I am now certified as an advanced diver, meaning that I can go on deep sea dives among others. One of my favorite courses that I have taken is on drift diving. You dive in a place where there is a really strong current. You just float or tumble along weightlessly, watching the coral and fish as you sail by... It's amazing. The conditions here has been excellent and visibility 20 meters down is about 30 meters (crystal clear water!!!) Diving will be a lifelong hobby of mine now. I love it so much. I would love to go with Dad sometime. I can just hear him talking about how wonderful God is and how great the variety of life on this planet is :)
A few days ago (the day after I arrived on the island), I rented a scooter and went exploring. The local villages here are amazing. Everywhere you look homes are surrounded by the most incredible stonework I have ever seen. I also found a really old temple in the forest at the top of a hill (Awesome). Among other brilliant things, I found a beautiful set of bungalows on a secluded beach called Dream Beach. The sand is so white, and has a different feeling than back home. Anyway, were moving there tomorrow morning for our last two days on the island for some relaxation.
We will then spend a day on Bali proper before heading to Thailand. In Thailand we hope to stay on the beach for a week and then visit Bangkok for three days before heading home to China.
Unfortunately the internet connection here is really slow and unreliable (this is the second time I've tried to make this post), so I can't post a ton of pics. As soon as I find a place with a good connection (maybe on Bali) I'll try to post more. I've tried to upload pics for the last few minutes and it keeps screwing up... GRRRR!!!!!
I love you all. Keep posting. and just so everyone knows. I will be checking my G-Mail account from now on. This should make it easy to e-mail me right from the blog. The address I usually use is neuron12@hotmail.com
Happy birthday my little niece. Your Uncle Dan loves you so much and can't wait to see you again.

Missed Daniels call....AGAIN!
Hello Daniel-son...
WOW...your pictures were...wow! The tail on that CAT...The roots on that tree....The leg on that huge monkey...WOW.
Sorry we missed your call, remember on Sunday from 10 am till 1 pm we are hooked up with the Saints in Newfoundland. That's what happened when you call today. We hoped and waited just in case you did call back.
We were extremely delighted to see your blog this afternoon, it was kind of a "kiss and make up" feeling after missing your call. :(
Please post more pictures as soon as you can...have any diving pictures?????
You must be pleased with the siblings who posted pics of themselves for you....Roxi says she would get one of her and Mark...he is home this week...and is doing the Master-Bedroom floor. Hey Roxi...take a pic of Mark laying the floor!
Say Uncle Dan...what did you THINK of Aunika darling, sweet pony-tail pop-top. Dad and I LOVED it. The picture of her looking at her baby-doll and her mommy looking at her...to precious!!!
We love you.....blog again really soon!!
Lovingly, As Ever, Mother

Millions of animals, millions of thumbs, millions of monkeys drumming on Drums...
Me and my Jungle crew ;)

And here we have the famed Leopard eating a monkey in a tree!!! This is the only wildlife pic here that I didn't take. I didn't bring my camera that morning. Hahaha

A skylight in a Giant Bat cave. This cave have millions of bats in it (Literally)... and was filled with the poop of a million bats too. Kind of stings the nostrils.

This is a Macaque. I saw TONS of these guys. They were super fun.

Another night pic. This scorpion was huge!!! Not like the little sucker you see Mexican kids playing with on TV

A Proboscus Monkey Chillin like Bob Dylan in the tree top

Here's one of the many birds of the Jungle. I got this on while trekking through the jungle late at night. It's neat; at night the jungle gets really loud ;) It's not a Blue Jay Roxi, but I bet you would have loved this guy anyway.

I hope you all enjoy these. They were crazy picture to get.
Love you all'
Dan

I wanted to post som pics :(
Sorry I have not been able to post more. I had to take the day off from vacationing today in order to organize some material for my masters application... Anywho Kuala Lumpur has been a great city. I'm not going to write much right now because I'm really tired. Just wanted to make sure a few shots got your way.
However the uploader does not seem to be working right now. So I'll say good night, and I love you.
Dan
